The
Iberian Horse is made up of several horse breeds. The Iberian horses originates
from Portuguese, Spanish horses. Andalusian (spanish), Lusitano (Portuguese),
are different branches of the same breed. Testing has been done by the University
of Kentucky to prove this through the blood testing and it shows there is not
any differnace in the genetic markers or variability meaning (when related
to biology -differing from the species norm: used to describe a species that tends
to differ in some characteristic from a recognized or known type. taken from Encarta
® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2004 Microsoft Corporation.

so many of the different breeds show many of the charecteristics of the Iberian
horse. What is interesting is that some horses in a breed may not show the charecteristics
whiles others will. It is said that the development of todays warm bloods
is from selective breeding of the Iberian horses rather then outside influences
(refer to Iberian Warmblood
Registry of America for more information. Other breeds
that are known to hold Iberian markers are some Mustang breeds, Barbs, and many
others that hold the spanish and portuguese genertic markers. Please see our links
page and our webring page for more information on these Iberian Horses.
