River
is Flash's Half Sister. Rivers Sire (Father) is Silverado A Claybank Kiger Stallion
Owned by Kiger Mustang Ranch in Bend, Oregon. Her Dam is A Blm Pinto Mustang.
River is very sweet in disposition, she is a fast learner like her brother
and uncles. River
has what we believe to be a " natural competition " ability. When we
put her in the field she has a game that her and the dogs in the run next to her,
like to play. It is very similar to Team Penning. They run the fence line, then
she turns out towards the field and runs back up to the top fence and her and
our border collie cross " Lady" proceed to pen each other, right, then
left, then right, then left again.
As you can see in the pictures in her
album she is quick witted. They were both her first time with the plastic bag,
and the horse blanket.. and neither one was a big scare she smelled them and then
excepted them. This is a trait I feel that they have gotten from the Kiger
Breed.

ABOUT THE PINTO MUSTANG ***
There
are many people out there calling pinto mustangs Paints. There is one problem
with this they are not. According to the American Paint Horse Associtation (taken
from their site) To be eligible for registry, a Paint's sire and dam must be
registered with the American Paint Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse
Association, or the Jockey Club (Thoroughbreds). To be eligible for the Regular
Registry, the horse must also exhibit a minimum amount of white hair over unpigmented
(pink) skin.
From
what I have always understood is in order for a horse to be a paint it must be
either Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred blood lines. Anything else is considered
a Pinto. My Advice to those who are being told that the mustang is a paint is
to ask to see the APHA Papers on that horse.
From what I am being told
is that these Pinto's Can be registered in the PtHA You can find more information
on this and the above on this page
http://www.pinto.org/khppintopreview/khppintopreview.htm
Remember
do your home work and Don't be scammed by a breeder who doesn't have a clue!
American
Pinto Mustangs can be registered in the Following Registries:
American
Indian Horse
American Mustang and Burro Assoc.
And
if they are half Kiger
KMA,
SMKR, And I believe the Canadian Kiger Registry.
!! UPDATE !!
I
email the APHA and here is their reply;
Dear
Star,
I'm sorry, APHA is a bloodline
registry requiring both parents to be
registered at the American Paint Horse,
the American Quarter Horse, or the Jockey Club in order for the resulting foal
to be eligible for
registration. You might try contacting the Pinto Horse
Association, they
are a color registry and can be reached at moankow@pinto.org.
If
we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

I
do believe if the mare is an APHA registered mare and it is bred to a mustang
stallion then I believe the foal could be registered but you would have to check.
I
also e-mailed the PtHA and they River is eligable so I will be doing that this
summer. It is going to be a little spending but worth it.
I
hope this help all those that might be confused.
